3D Internet Viewers
There are a number of
online formats for viewing 3D content in a web browser. Java,
Shockwave, Viewpoint, Shout3D, Quicktime, eDrawings and many more.
As time goes on we plan to demonstrate the differences between
these viewers. For now, we will demonstrate only Viewpoint since
that is our preferred viewer. We believe it is a great company
and has positioned itself to become the standard in 3D. Play with
the animation on the right!
How does it work?
Most of the online
viewers rely on technology already embedded inside the standard
web browser to download additional plug-ins. The plug-in uses
some format that attempts to minimize the file size yet deliver
the content in a professional manner. The size of the plug-in
and the relative capability of the plug-in is what sets the viewers
apart. Also, the amount of post download marketing is also a factor.
Some of the plug-ins practically take over your computer. We aren't
a big fan of these.
